Business and Management with a Foundation Year in Business BA (Hons)

Do you want to develop the essential management skills and experience to launch your business career? Our course is designed to provide you with a broad range of knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to business and management that will enable you to excel in a wide arange of jobs once you gradute.

You’ll gain real-world experience through professional work placements, and you’ll have the opportunity to conduct a business research project with an employer in your final year.

You’ll learn about the complexities of organisations, understanding their structure and HR management concepts. You’ll explore the fundamentals of accounting, finance and marketing, as well as getting the opportunity to learn about international business and marketing.

The programme has been developed in conjunction with employers and offers a well-rounded education in many areas of modern business management. It covers the organisational issues behind modern business, but also the legal, ethical and sustainability issues facing companies.

The underlying principle behind the course content is to mirror the modern business environment, giving you the opportunity to solve business problems in real-life case studies. You’ll learn in small groups, developing the confidence to work in project teams to a professional standard

Following your degree, you will graduate with an invaluable combination of in-depth theoretical knowledge and professional experience, preparing you for a successful start to your career in business and management. Our experienced staff (many of whom have had management careers prior to academia) will help you hit the ground running from day one of your new career.

The module details given below are subject to change, and are the latest example of the curriculum available on this course of study. Students will study a combination of core and option modules across their three or four years of study.

Year 3
Core modules (students are required to take):

  • e-business and e-marketing
  • Business & Management Strategy
  • Corporate Sustainability

Students are also required to choose one option module from

  • Research Project*
  • Professional Learning Through Work

And two option modules from:

  • Leadership
  • Financial Reporting
  • International Marketing
  • Project Management
  • Entrepreneurship and Creativity

*There are pre-requisites for these modules

  • A-levels: BBC
  • BTEC: DMM
  • 112 UCAS points
  • GCSE Requirements: Grade C or above/grade 4 or higher in English Language and Maths.

UK & EU Students:
Tuition fees cost £9,250 a year for this course in 2020/2021.

Part-time tuition fees will be pro-rated accordingly to the number of credits you’re studying. Depending on government policy, tuition fees may rise with inflation in future years.
