The BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) opens doors to a variety of opportunities, from higher education to employment, equipping you with skills and knowledge that are highly valued by industry and academia.

LDT welcomes any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.

Applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at LD Training’s and Gloucestershire College’s discretion.

All queries regarding course entry criteria, including the equivalency of qualifications and extenuating circumstances, should be directed by email to the Admissions Department through admissions@ldtraining.ac.uk.

This course is delivered face-to-face, on campus one day per week (weekend delivery), as well as through independent supported study where required. You will have full access to tutors and access to the college learning resources.

You will cover the following core units:

  • The Contemporary Business Environment
  • Marketing Processes and Planning
  • Management of Human Resources
  • Leadership and Management
  • Accounting Principles
  • Managing a Successful Business Project (externally set assessment)

In addition, there will be two optional units taken alongside the core.

The aims of the Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Business are: 

  • to develop students the business skills, knowledge and understanding they need 
  • to achieve high performance in the international business environment 
  • to develop students with enquiring minds, who have the abilities and confidence 
  • to work across different business functions and to lead, manage, respond to change. and tackle a range of complex business situations 
  • to provide the core skills required for a range of careers in business, including management, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting and finance 
  • to offer a balance between employability skills and the knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic ambitions 
  • to develop students understanding of the major impact that new digital technologies have on the business environment 
  • to provide insight into international business operations and the opportunities and challenges presented by a global marketplace 
  • to equip students with knowledge and understanding of culturally diverse organisations, cross-cultural issues, diversity and values, and to allow flexible study to meet local and specialist needs. 

Students undertaking the BTEC Higher National Certificate in Business will be charged tuition fees as detailed below.
